New FAQ for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Users
November 12, 2007We’ve created a new FAQ based on our own and customer experiences with using Spell Catcher X on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). It outlines various problems, along with solutions for each, when using Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 on Leopard.
Anyone using Leopard, please give it a read!
Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 is Compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)!
October 27, 2007Customers have been asking whether Spell Catcher X is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). Now that I’ve done some testing with the GM release, I can properly answer this question. The answer is YES, Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 (the current version) is definitely compatible with Leopard!
There are two relatively minor issues I’ve noticed:
1. The system-wide spelling service will NOT automatically launch the Spell Catcher application when needed. This is not generally a big deal, as the Spell Catcher application will launch when you log in if Spell Catcher’s input method is active. If you don’t use Spell Catcher’s input method and do use a Spell Catcher language in the Spelling Panel, just add the Spell Catcher app as a Login Item (System Prefs, Accounts).
2. In Spell Catcher’s Interactive preferences, there is an area at the bottom of the window that reflects the current state of Spell Catcher’s input method. If it’s not possible to activate Spell Catcher’s input method (presumably it has just been installed), this fact is not accurately reflected. It will show that you can activate the input method, but in reality you can’t. You will need to restart after installing Spell Catcher’s input method component before it will be available.
That said, we are working on a major upgrade to Spell Catcher X. It will take advantage of numerous new-in-Leopard technologies, and has a slew of new features for both Tiger and Leopard users. Stay tuned!

Danish Language Now Available
July 20, 2006We’re adding two new add-on languages to our line-up, the first one, Danish (spelling and thesaurus) is ready to go for Spell Catcher X. Danish was the most-requested language, and we’ll have it ready shortly for Spell Catcher Plus and Spell Catcher 8.
More information is available on the Spell Catcher X languages page (word counts and all that good stuff). Scroll to the bottom of the page…
Those of you that were waiting, you can buy it at our online store for a mere $10.
As for the second language we’re adding, well, we’re strongly considering Russian. This will involve updating the software, as there are new things to consider when dealing with Cyrillic encoding on the Mac OS. If all apps and all keyboard layouts and all input methods could be Unicode, well, it would just work right now. Sigh.
